Boris Illytch Solzhenitsyn was born in Coprates, the son of Pyotr Nicholas Gregorovic, by one of his three mistresses. Although illegitimate he was supported by his father, who arranged for him to be educated in the RAM Academy on Deimos. Emerging third in his class he joined the Space Assault Corps, and was assigned to the Deep Space fleet aboard the Splendour Hyaline. He served as a fighter pilot in several major engagements with the Black Brotherhood, earning himself a reputation as a hotshot pilot with a flair for the ‘blackout’ manoeuvres (a tactic where the pilot places his craft on autopilot before attempting a high-g turn and resuming control once he comes out of it). Following the Battle of the Trojans though, the Splendour Hyaline was reassigned to Earth to deal with the rising threat of NEO. In a raid against a NEO base in Earth orbit Boris was shot down and [Omega-1 security clearance required]. When he was removed to a cruiser he made an escape attempt during which he was shot by [Omega-1 security clearance required]. His throat was damaged, but he was still able to fight his way to the fighter bays, commandeer a craft and make contact with the RAM Earth orbit fleet. Able to eventually use non-verbal communications to alert the fleet to the NEO presence, he was given the RAM Medal of Honour, second class, before undergoing a year long series of operations to restore his throat. During his recovery period he has been assigned light courier duties, providing transport for Internal Affairs operatives who are travelling off-world.
