Aurum
From RPGwiki
Aurum is an acient god, one whos worship has continued into the present day and remains strong, even if some detractors would say that his priest hoods power is more temporal than spiritual these days.Aurum was originally associated with the sun and the crops that it grew. It is said that wheat is his favoured foodstuff, and it is traditionally used in certain rites to him. He is also associated with the rather more expensive substance gold, which is said to be the sweat that he shred when the gods were building the world. His symbol is often stamped onto gold ingots as proof of purity and it is also often featured on coins, whether they contain any precious metals or not. Both wheat and gold are used to make holy symbols of Aurum.
His associations with wealth and plentiful food mean that Aurum has always been a popular good with both farmers and kings. His favour is desirable to both. As a result he is also assosicated with good rulership and management of resources. The priests of Aurum claim that his is king of the gods.
The best known face of his priest hoods is the multinational Bank of Aurum. The Bank began life as a branch of the church that would lend money to merchants and kings inorder to incourage economic growth. It has also been known to fund armies that are fighting its enemies. Today, the bank has millions of customers and branches in most major cities. Most people consider the bank to be stabilising influence, although some purists claim it has become more concerned with gold than the Golden One.
