The mysterious continent of Challenga is found beyond the Rainwards Isles and is inhabited by dark-skinned natives who are descended from the same tribes that formed Hank’s clan. They do not have the sophistication of Hank’s land though and many are rumoured to be cannibals or worshippers of strange tentacled gods. But the inhabitants that draw most attention are not the humans, but the dinosaurs.

These scaly beasts are what have fascinated several explorers, including Peregrine Airrider. While many are human sized or less it is the dragon-sized giant beasts that fascinate people. Indeed everything there seems to be on a larger scale as the Airriders have reported encounters with fire giants in the heart of a volcanic temple, frost giants in the glacial mountains and legends of a tribe of giant apes in the jungles.

Oddly enough, despite Pez’s interest in dinosaurs, it was not the presence of the giant beasts that lured the Airrider brothers here. Instead it was the legends that suggested the strange land was home to a clan of wizards who travelled the seas on a ship known as the Waverider. The Airriders have long tried to track down every rumour of other elemental mage families and believe there should be four families out there; the Airriders of Waltdorf, the mysterious Waveriders, a possible family of wizards to the south of Hitehkel known as Flameriders and presumably some kind of earth-related wizards, though as yet the Airriders have found no trace of them. Unfortunately, though they heard many stories of the Waverider, they were unable to find anything that wasn’t second or third-hand. If the Waverider does use Challenga as a home port they either keep their presence a well-kept secret or have some very capable liars helping them.
