Klob was born in the huge sprawling underground complex known as Deepmountain. Here, he was just one of the many resident humanoids who had to deal with periodic attacks by Hook horrors, Drow, and wandering adventurers. The pressure must have deeply terrible, expecting death around every corner. Perhaps it's not surprising that Klob developed a few personality aberations.
Such things are not tolerated in the strict culture that the kobolds of Deepmountain maintained. It was after an ill-advised outburst against the king's plans to launch a mass attack against a group of murderous adventures that Klob found himself locked in a jail cell. No-one told him how long he was supposed to remain there, but he started to get a little worried (and hungry) when nobody came to feed him. Eventually, the door was opened. Standing there were the adventurers the king had decided to ambush and kill. Given that he hadn't seen any other members of the tribe since, Klob decided to join the winning side. Besides, they gave him lots of money and Schallat looked like the type of person you wanted as a friend.

He's dead at the minute, but I don't expect that to last for long. I'll have him back on his feet just as soon as I can."
