Peregrine Airrider
From RPGwiki
The Airrider family have been residents and protectors of Waltdorf since the early years after the Cataclysm. In that time they have suffered great losses, enjoyed great victories and seen the rise of their quiet town to become the pre-eminent force in the area. There have been several Airriders who have served on the Council of Twelve, and Pez is the latest in a long line of aristocratic wizards.
Pez is the middle child of the current generation of Airriders, but he has always been slightly separated from his siblings. While his older brothers (Merlin and Kite) were born within a year of each other there was a ten year gap between them and Pez and another three years before the twins (Kes and Hawk) were born after him. He was always Merlin and Kite’s baby brother and the big brother to the twins. When he first went adventuring with his older brothers they were already well experienced travellers with nine years experience behind them, and their first expedition together to the continent of Challenga almost killed him. But the memory of the dinosaurs he encountered there have stuck with him and explain why many of his summoning spells call on the monstrous creatures he saw there.
He travelled with his brothers and their friends for several years all over Hosk, and beyond. When Merlin began to experiment in travelling spells he opened a magical gate to a far-flung world, Telluria. While there Pez became romantically involved with a Tellurian adventurer, Rebecca Cwej, while foiling an invasion by a highly advanced group of neo-otyughs. Following the conflict his eldest brother Merlin and Rebecca’s cousin, Sophie, who had also become close were married. Merlin chose to stay behind on Telluria with some of his friends, inevitably splitting the party. The return of Pez and Kite Airrider to Krynn plunged them into the minotaur wars. Pez was involved in the fighting to the very end and it was in the course of this battle that the Mage of the Vale first identified him as a potential successor once he had a few more year’s experience. Following the war their home town had become flooded with refugees and Pez was deputised into the watch, where he first met his friend, Hector Smith. It was while part of this handsome cop/scary cop partnership that a lich, an old foe of the older Airrider brothers called Alabaster, launched a plan of revenge against Kite.
Kite had married Sandrana, Smith’s long-lost sister, but under Alabaster’s influence he murdered her and was dragged into Ravenloft. Pez, receiving unsettling dreams, tracked his brother into Ravenloft and brought him back. He then allied himself with the heroes of the Vale in order to carry the Horn of Calling to the Dragon’s Graveyard. During the course of these adventures he was present at the death of the Mage of the Vale who made a great bequest to Pez; the Vale itself. Only recently has he found out how hard that will be, with the disappearance of the Vale with Pez in it. Now it has been returned he has accepted a request from the Council of Twelve to explore the ruins of Bisel City.
Many people believe Pez is arrogant, always thinks he is right and acts as if the whole world revolves around him. They’re right, but the reason why is the same as the reason why he is brave, confident and caring about those less fortunate than himself. He comes from a family who have been rich and powerful since the Cataclysm, possibly before, and they are aristocracy in all but name. Like most aristocracy he believes law and order is necessary, but that laws do not necessarily apply to him, only to the little people. On the other hand he believes strongly that his rights also give him responsibilities; that he has to care for those born without his advantages. He will devote time, energy and money to helping people, and would even give his life to save others, believing that it would be balancing the books for his privileged life.
| "Yes! My good friend Pez! What a remarkable man! He knows everything, it seems. A petty he understands so little... Still, that does make him useful. I love the way he upholds law and order and then completely ignores it himself. His actions show the touch of Chislev, even if he wouldn't admit it. At the very least, such wonderful hypocracy from a noble help to undermine the foundations of society. In this I will help him with all my heart." |

| "Seeing Pez in a fight is like watching an explosion at a zoo. As for the smell of all those scared animals draged from what ever dimension he gets them from even i blanch!" |
