Retchan of Jiyank

Retchan was born in the hold of Jiyank, but his home was destroyed during the early days of Kalchichi's war against the invaders. Like the others that survived the attack he became a refugee, seeking shelter amongst the remining holds.

Retchan made his way to Zaphor, the largest and most important of the kobold holds. On his first day there he was approached by the young prince Hasi Calume, who has questioning newcomers as to the state of the war. Appartently he said "The Bastards got lucky at Jiyank". Such willingness to continue the fight impressed Calume, who allowed Retchan to join the battle sorcerers despite the fact that he had been little more than a bellmaker with a sideline in magic. Certain detracters and cynics have suggested that he got the position because the Kobolds were desperate, rather than because of any great insight on the princes part.

Whatever the reason, Retchan tuke his new job very seriously, practicing his sorcererus talent for destruction to a fine edge - both figuratively and literlly, because he used his metal working knowledge in manufactor of weapons as well, many enchanted. Examples of his work from this period have been identified and are highly valued by collectors.

Aside from producing numerous magical weapons, Retchan is also noteworthy for his part in constructing the Zaphor Gateway and the development of gunpowder and firearms. When the first few Golems were gaining sentience, Retchan fought and destroyed a powerfull golem that some claim was Grundy himself.

Retchan has fought in most of the conflicts Kalchichi has been involved since the Malkin War, frequently meeting with the other members of the Zaphor Triad. When not actively fighting, he devoted much of his time to trying to create the perfect weapon. He has produced many enchanted guns over the centuries, and his current favorite is the Fist of Kalchichi.

For reasons unknown, about one hundred years ago some sort of disagreement between the members of the Zaphor triad accured. Since then the three most powerfull and influencial kobolds in the world have not spoken diretly. Shortly after the rift formed, Retchan moved out to Timur bay were he lives to this day.

Since the advent of the nuclear age Retchan seems to have grown distant to the world at large. He witnessed the aftermouth of the first ever atomic strike, and it seemed to have effected him deeply. Cynics have suggested that he is either jelous that he didn't invent them, or perhaps he has realised that his form of warfare no longer dominates the world.

Not that anyone who has met him in person could think such a thing. Retchans force of personality is legendary when he wishes to employ it. The sound of his voice can hypnotise listeners without any magical aid.

Those that know he simply claim that Retchan is waiting for something...
