Schallat
From RPGwiki
Shallat is a lizardfolk priest from blackwater glade. Visions granted to him a young age while while savoring several rare herds prompted him to leave his swampy home and go into the world at large to spread the word of Chislev to all who would listen. Unless they were Jaraksin, followers of Takhasis, or anybody else he disapproved off - in which case you could hope for a swift death at best.
As befits a priest of chaos, Shallat can be a hard individual to understand. Often his actions seem random, with no discernible reason to them, prompting many people to consider him insane. At other times he displays a sharp insight into the minds of the thinking races - even mamalian ones- and the ability to construct workable schemes.
Standing nearly seven feet tall, Shallat makes quite a sight. Every each of his body is decorated with some sort of jewelery, most of it cheap and ill made. In fact, he seems to reject any piece he considers to be too tasteful or masterfully made. Only a sharp eye would notice the enchanted items almost lost within the mass.
Thrown over the top of it all is a suit of armour made from the hide of a red dragon called Splatterblood, who made the mistake of crossing the Chislevite. It is one of the few forms of protection allowed by his religion and is perhaps one of his most valuable possession.
Shallat has recently managed to reacquire his wayward intelligent trident after as stint on the demiplane of dread. Although a terrible experience all round, the talking weapon seems to have left behind his dwarf hating ways and is now ready to return to fighting evil and spreading chaos across Taladas.
After the bakali were defeated by the jarak sinn and forced to flee northwards they turned to Schallat for leadership, making him the supreme leader of what remains of his people. This sudden boost in rank and responsibility hasn't changed him, apart from the fact that he now has two heads.
[edit] An alternate view
...as written by the scribes of Waltdorf's Council.
Little is known of the lizard man priest Schallat before his arrival in Bissel. Those that dare to ask him are told in rasping, fanatical tones that the hand of Chislev guided him from Blackwater Glade (the southern swampland where the Bakali make their home) to Bissel to teach the masses of unbelievers the way of the god of chaos.
The Bakali are a dying race, hopelessly outnumbered by their evil Jarak Sinn brothers, but in Schallat lies their best hope for survival. It was Schallat who helped stop the Minotaur army in its tracks, and in doing so won the respect and trust of a host of races across Southern Hosk, and in particular the Steamwall Goblins. It was Schallat who made sure that all dragons, not just the evil ones, returned to Taladas, thus reuniting the Bakali with their Green Dragon allies to stand against the dim-witted Jarak Sinn and their evil Black Dragon cohorts.
Those who have adventured with Schallat know that he is not really one person, but two. All Bakali have a dominant personality, which governs their day-to-day life. However, upon encountering a Jarak Sinn, a Bakali enters an uncontrollable, bezerk rage, and a different personality emerges. This personality knows no fear, feels no pain, and will not leave until every Jarak Sinn in sight has been slaughtered. In Schallat’s case, his alter ego is known as Hyde. Hyde, like Schallat, is a devout follower of Chislev, and has been known to appear in the presence of Usa clerics.
During his early adventures, Schallat acquired an enchanted, intelligent trident. The trident can speak (and answers to the name “Trident”), and has other magical abilities, including allowing Schallat to fly like a witch on a broomstick! Trident’s personality was initially friendly and eccentric, until a fateful day in the Steamwall mountains, where Schallat was taken prisoner by the Steamwall Dwarves. Trident escaped, and was attacked by the Dwarves. Trident, never tiring and impervious to non-magical attacks, slaughtered the whole settlement, killing over 100 dwarves. Since that day his personality has become ever more psychotic and evil, but he remains under Schallat’s strict control.
For several years, Schallat was accompanied by his kobold henchman, Klob, whom he rescued from the dungeons of Deepmountain. An adept thief and a lay preacher of Chislev, Klob became a valued member of the team, and fought alongside his master bravely. Klob had a love of all things shiny, and was bedeck in all manner of valueless jewellery and other trinkets that he acquired along the way. During one adventuring campaign, Klob was slain, but Schallat recovered his body and preserved it, in the seemingly forlorn hope that one day he might be able to bring his Kobold ally back from the dead.
One day, Schallat will return to Blackwater Glade and either become the Lizard King or die trying. But until then, Waltdorf is a safer and more interesting place for having a real life, magic-wielding priest of Chislev in its midst.

"Yes I've been wielding Shallat for some time. He isn't quite as pure hearted as I might like, but he can be a laugh at times. Besides, he's a chaos priest, so he lets me do what ever I feel like."

"I will escape! Escape and rule forever! All my enemies will turn to blood!"

"I never quite know what to make of Schallat. He seems to live by the creed 'by any means necessary', using evil methods, like raising undead, to defeat evil beings. I still don't know why he devotes such a great deal of his time to saving the world, unless its because he doesn't want anyone else conquering it before he's ready to do so..."

"A philosopher once said "I think therefore I exist.", which is interesting because an orc warchief once said to me "I exist, therefore I kill". Personally, I say "I kill, therefore I exist". I know this to be true, because I have observed that those who fail to kill no longer exist."
