Smith came across this ring in Ravenloft, and was daft enough to put on a magic item found in place. He hasn't been able to remove it since, which is a little worrying. Fortunately, its effects appear to be completely benign, even beneficial. As long as Smith has this ring, it accelerates the natural healing processes of his body, which is nice. Still, the damn thing won't come off...
