No, it isn't. The ring of hideous midfortune was an item that Schallat stole from Yuan-Ti to defeat the original league of minotaurs. The ring that Smith posses is just an innocent magic item taken from Ravenloft... Andy 13:57, 16 December 2008 (UTC)
