The Bank of Aurum

The Bank of Aurum is the selcular face of a very religious body. Saying that the bank has a lot of capital is like saying that the ocean has a lot of water. It's perfectly true, but it misses the shear magnitude of the fact. The bank has more cash then entire nations.

This body has existed for around 800 years. The Church of Aurum has always been involved in investment, but it was at this point that distinct body was created to manage such matters. General, the Bank sees its mission as maintaining financial security, and as such it has been known to make loans to governments and rulers in times of need. Unsurprisingly, this gives it quite a bit of political clout, something which has caused friction in the past. Enemies of the church have accused it of using the Bank to promote its own agenda, rather than the common good. Often it is true,
