Tunnel racing

Tunnel racing is an athletics evcent popular in Kalchichi. It is similar to other multidiscipline events, such a the decathlon. Tunnel racing traditionally consists of several parts. These include:
- The first sprinting stretch
- A swimming event, under water through a flooded, dark tunnel.
- A vertical climbing event.
- A second sprint.
- The final climb, this time horizontally across the roof of the cavern. The first over the finsihing line wins.
In times past this was a rather dangerous sports, but in recent years safty measures have been introduced due to certain people accusing the event of almost being a blood sport. Some hard liners are disgusted by such "mollycodling". These days the swimming events have breathing apparatus half way down, but any participant found to have used it is disqualified. The same is true for anybody falling during the climbing events, even if they are saved by rope or safty net.
Despite such measures, the sport remains notoriously dangerous.
