In the Northern League or Trappist version, cloistering is not permitted until Kensal Rise has been played. As cloistering greatly increases the defensive value of holy stations, the timing of a play of Kensal Rise is key part of this variant. In particular, a higher line velocity is needed in order to make the station accessible.
